Rev. Benjamin Doggett immigrated from England and served at Christ Church and St. Mary's Whitechapel in Lancaster.

Benjamin Doggett was born in Ipswich, Suffolk, England in October of 1636. He was the son of William Doggett and Anne Langley. Benjamin was baptized on the 28th of October 1636 at St. Mary-le-Tower church. His father was listed as a warden of the church that same year.

Benjamin was admitted St. John's College at the University of Cambridge on January 27th, 1655, he received at Bachelor's in 1659 and graduated in 1661 with a Master of the Arts degree. Benjamin was ordained and assigned to Stoke-by-Claire church in West Suffolk. In 1664 Benjamin married Jane Garrard. They had at least five children that were mentioned in Benjamin's will. All but the oldest son, Benjamin Jr, were probably born in Virginia.

Benjamin and his family arrived in Lancaster county before 1669. Benjamin was assigned to preach at Christ Church and later founded Saint Mary's Whitechapel. Benjamin's will was recorded March 14th 1681 in Lancaster county. He died soon after and was buried under the chancel at Saint Mary's Whitechapel.
